For six large windows of our historic house, we were looking for brass curtain rods to fit inside the window reveals and two of over 4 metres for drapes. After a long search we came across Chamberline, what a relief! We needed the rods quickly and despite the holiday period I was able to collect them very fast. Andrea was very friendly and helpful. Also gave good explanations about the lengths and how to shorten them if necessary (needed when working with half centimetres). The rods are light yet sturdy and hold the heavy drapes nicely in the right place. We haven't done all the windows yet so we will definitely be back. Nothing negative to remark upon!

Curtain rod Falkner polished brass 28 mm
Our rods are made of coated steel. After being galvanised, they are dipped in a bath of liquid brass. The outer layer is brass, but around a steel rod.
A complete curtain rod consists of 1 rod, 2 or more brackets, 2 finials and optionally rings.
Self-measuring
- First, look at the space and situation where you want to place the curtain rod. Will the rod go across the entire width of the wall or just above the window frame? The situation determines what is needed. Take into account obstacles such as heating pipes, ceiling cornices and projections.
- Use a metal tape measure long enough to measure in one go.
- Meet at least twice to avoid mistakes.
Determine length
Measure the width of the window frame and add extra length to both sides. Therefore, measure the total desired width (window + extra centimetres on the left and right).
Example: if the window is 150 cm wide, you add 2 × 20 cm extra. The total curtain rod length will then be 190 cm.
Windows up to 100 cm: 10 to 15 cm extra rod per side.
Windows up to 200 cm: 20 to 25 cm extra rod per side.
Windows of 300 cm or more: 30 to 35 cm extra rod per side.
Support distribution across the rod
Determine whether your curtains are light or heavy and how often you open and close them. For heavy curtains, we recommend an extra bracket in the middle for additional stability.
Rod length up to 265 cm: 2 brackets.
Pole length up to 530 cm: 3 brackets.
Pole length up to 795 cm: 4 brackets.
Don't forget the length of the finials
Check whether the total width including finials fits between any walls and whether the whole thing looks generous.
Determining the length between two walls or partitions
Do you want to place the rod between two walls? Then measure the exact inside dimension and subtract the following from the total length once:
- With a 28 mm curtain rod: −1.5 cm
- For a 19 mm curtain rod: −1 cm
This is necessary for the assembly. The exact size does not fit in combination with the brackets.

I am unsure about the colour, can I order samples?
If you are in doubt about the colours of our curtain rods, you can always request a free sample by email or using the order button on the homepage. We will then send you one or more pieces of rod in your preferred colours. In doing so, we want to prevent you from ordering rods that do not meet your expectations.
Up to what length can I order a curtain rod?
For shipping reasons, curtain rods up to 265 cm are supplied in one piece. Greater lengths (from 266 cm) are supplied in two parts with a connector. The connection is not visible as it coincides within the bracket. If you collect your order in person, you can order lengths of up to 3 metres in one piece.
Are the rods solid?
The rods are made of steel. After being galvanized, these are dipped in a bath of liquid metal, e.g., bronze, stainless steel, brass, etc. The outer layer is bronze or brass, but around a steel rod. The black rods are steel and then black powder-coated.
Can I cut the curtain rod to size myself?
Yes, that is possible. You can cut our curtain rods to size using a hacksaw or pipe cutter.
How do I order multiple rods?
Type the desired size in cm and you can indicate how often you want it. Are they different sizes? Then you can add each rod with the desired size to the shopping basket separately.
How many rings do I need?
That depends primarily on your curtains. In most cases, this is 10 rings per metre of fabric. However, it is possible that you have more or fewer pleats per metre. This therefore varies depending on the type of curtain.
